The Co-Responder model pairs law enforcement and behavioral health specialists to respond to behavioral health-related calls for police service. Like law enforcement agencies across the County, the Dacono Police Department receives Crisis Intervention Training (CIT). The goals of CIT are to train law enforcement officers in recognition of mental illness, enhance their verbal crisis de-escalation skills, and provide more streamlined access to community-based mental health services. The Agreement will fund a shared Co-Responder position, with each participating municipality contributing $13,000 annually.
