The City contracts for seasonal mosquito management- larval (water treatments), adult mosquito surveillance and trapping, and fogging. Throughout the City, traps are strategically located. Traps are reviewed and counted regularly, and areas with high trap counts receive adult mosquito control (spraying).
Culex mosquitoes are attracted to warm and moist environments. Stagnant water, such as bird baths, kiddie pools, and trash can covers, make ideal mosquito breeding grounds. When outside, please remember the 4D's of mosquito control
1. Drain - Remove standing water from your property
2. Dress - Wear long pants and sleeves to prevent mosquito bites
3. Defend - Wear EPA-approved repellents, including DEET, Picaridin, and Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus
4. Dawn and Dusk - Avoid being outside during peak mosquito activity
